Kerala in Floods

It was the worst floods in the state in a century claimed hundreds of lives, flattened tens of thousands of homes, and washed away roads and bridges.
The floods had paralyzed normal life of millions of people. Hundreds of houses were damaged and thousands of families were forced to take shelter in relief camps. The flood victims of Kerala were in desperate need of relief support to survive and get back to their normal life.
After the flood , it was time to rebuild the lives of those who have lost everything to the floods. The needs are varied starting from Providing food, cleaning wells, repairing their homes, fixing electrical and plumbing lines, access to capital, time to immediate employment, burden of debt etc.

Here's how we helped the flood victims:

Gausia Academy's Kerala Flood Relief Campaign was Inaugrated on the 4th of September 2018, in Al Ihsan Higher secondary/Sharia school and Orphanage home at Niranam North PO, Thiruvalla, Pathanamthitta. Along with Mr. Fahim Mahate Trustee of Gausia Academy and Mr. Mohammad Hussain Shaikh Member of Gausia Academy present there were Dr. Al Faizee General Secretary of Al Ihsaan, Mr Anas Poovalam Parambu of Sunni Yuvajana Sangam (SYS), Mr. Nizam from Sunni Students Fedaration (SSF), Sayed Irshad Sadiq of IARM.

Total of 500 Food Packs were distributed in Tiruvalla, Pathanamthitta district of Kerala by Gausia Academy.
A food pack consisted of 10 Kg Rice, 5 Kg Flour, 2 Kg Dal, 2 Ltrs Oil, 1Kg Spices, 2 Kg Sugar, 500gms Tea.
Food packs were distributed in Al-Ihsan school to flood effected families of Niranam village. Trucks were loaded and food packs distributed in houses located in different flood effected areas of Tiruvalla. Food packs were also distributed in an Island of Tiruvalla which was totally submerged in water during floods.

After the floods Gausia Academy under it's 'Water for All' project has undertaken the cleaning and water purification of 250 Wells in Thiruvalla, district Pathanamthitta of Kerala. The work is carried out under the supervision of Al-Ihsan charitable trust and volunteered by Sunni Yuvajana Sangam (SYS).

A survey of washed away houses in Thiruvalla, district Pathanamtittha of Kerala was carried out by Sunni Yuvajana Sangam (SYS) for Gausia academy. Out of the houses Surveyed a few were visited and their families were helped by Gausia Academy.

For sanitation Buckets, Mugs, Washing powder and soap we're provided to 500 needy familes.

New clothes such as Shirts, lungis etcs were distributed to 500 needy familes.
